UNGA President-elect Abdulla Shahid appoints Indian IFS Officer K Nagaraj Naidu to lead UN Bureaucracy for one year

The President-elect of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has appointed K Nagaraj Naidu as his Chef de Cabinet.
K Nagaraj Naidu is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer serving as India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador. He is the first Indian diplomat to be named to this position.
Naidu has been appointed for a period of one year, during the tenure of Abdulla Shahid as the President of UNGA76, which will begin from September 2021.
The position of Chef de Cabinet is comparable to the Indian Prime Minister’s principal secretary, who oversees the cabinet bureaucracy.
