What is Bodoland?
Bodoland state has been a longstanding demand of boro tribe of Assam. All Bodo student Students Union (ABSU) launched Bodo movement in 1987 for separate state of Bodoland.
Peace accord-
It is a tripartite agreement signed between ministry of home affairs (MHA) , the Assam government and bodo groups to redraw, rename and change power sharing agreement in Bodoland Territorial Area District in Assam which includes Kokrajhar, Chirang ,Baksa and Udalguri.
Historical Context-
There has been three bodo accords in total.
First accord- Signed in 1993 with ABSU which led to creation of Bodoland autonomous council.
Second accord- Signed in 2003 which led to formation of Bodoland territorial council an autonomous body under the Sixth Schedule of the constitution.
Third accord-
BTR to include the villages which are dominated by bodos but are outside BTAD presently.
