    The initial attempt to train the Civil Servants locally was done by Lord Wellesley. Within the campus of the Fort William, he founded Fort Williams College on 10 July 1800. The College of Fort William emerged as both a centre of research and a publication unit, a cradle of creativity as well as scholarship. The purpose of establishing this college was to be to teach British officers of Indian Languages. For the purpose of education, here has been established a library and put the many historical books.  Then a separate College, East Indian Company College was established in 1807 at England but the Fort William College was the center for teach different languages.
