United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation, on September 12 of every year, is celebrated by several countries around the world.

• As a manifestation of worldwide diplomacy and unity among several countries, cooperation between governments in the south has helped instill peace.
• In an increasingly globalized world, s olidarity is still a pressing issue, especially concerning impoverished countries.
• The special event will mark 40 years since the adoption of the Buenos Aires Plan of Action for promoting and Implementing Technical Cooperation among developing Countries (BAPA), leading up to the Second High-level United Nations Conference on South-South Cooperation (BAPA+40) to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 20-22 March 2019.
