Singhbhum is famous for iron and copper. The Singhbhum district has been divided into three smaller districts, being East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Saraikela Kharsawan. These three districts are part of Jharkhand state. East Singhbhum is famous for Copper and Uranium mines. Most notable Copper mines are Banalopa, Badia, Pathargora, Dhobni, Kendadih, Rakha and Surda. The greater part of West Singhbhum district is covered with deposits of iron ore and other industrially important minerals including Chromite, Magnetite, Manganese, Kainite, Lime stone, Asbestos and Soap Stone.
